Program Description
Students seeking computer information technology may follow a plan that adds academic courses of certificates. Students who have Basic courses from IBS Training program Network.
Students will find coursework, taught by certified instructors, in our certificate programs that lead to professional certification from vendors such as Microsoft.
The general education core courses, and some technical courses transfer to a variety of universities. Technical AAS degrees transfer in total to some universities. Contact a counselor or advisor at any college for specific information and to obtain the recommended sequencing of courses.
Students interested in transferring to program in computer science should consider completing the A.A. degree with a field of study in computer science.
INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER
The objective of this course is to provide an overview of the computing field and its typical applications and provide knowledge in key terminology and components of computer hardware, software, and operating systems. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to define basic computer terminology, identify and describe computer hardware components, identify and define the types of computer software, use simple system software features, and explain the systems development life cycle. There is no prerequisite for this course. This course is tailored to meet the needs of a beginner or enhance the existing skills of those who have computer experience.
COMPUTER REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE
The objective of this course is to introduce students to computer repair and maintenance. Upon Completion of this course, students will be able to build or maintain new hardware, install and update software packages, and perform physical and investigative processes.
SOFTWARE, NETWORK AND CABLING
The objective of this course is to introduce students to computer networking and cabling. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to create and maintain computer networks and coordinate and oversee a wide variety of network activities.
A+ CERTIFICATION
The objective of this course if to give students a comprehensive overview of core hardware, installation, configuration, and upgrading, safety and preventive maintenance of operating system technologies, file, directory, and disk management in preparation for the A+ certification examination. Upon completion of this course students will be able to complete the A+ Certification examination.
